A language. Words. Sounds. It’s what binds us. What differentiates the music we play in our brains when we think. It’s what colours the dramatic existence of our emotions.

Speaking is like dancing among words. Some dance better than others. The better you dance, the further you will get on your way to your target, be it personal or professional.

Having the linguistic insight of the moment can lead you to efficient and rapid goal achievement and self-fulfilment. Everything you say depicts something about yourself and, very often, suggests your intentions. People understand part of who you are when they hear your voice forming the plural or whether you make the subject and the verb agree. This is not something to ignore. It does matter.

After you have studied a language for a while, especially a foreign one, do not expect to have all the answers ready. Nobody does. Your language teacher doesn’t either. Actually, you do not need to know all words in a language in order to start speaking. What you need is to smoothly slide towards your objective led by a good choice of already acquired words and string them up into an efficient discourse.

Being familiar with expressing oneself within a diversity of situations in a foreign language is important. Proving situational awareness can be learned through constant exposure to scenarios tailored according to one’s own linguistic profile. Starting with basic or routine situations at lower language levels and progressively head towards non-routine situations at higher language levels will beautifully shape up your linguistic abilities. Thus, you will be able to either obtain or maintain a certain language standard in speaking. Hopefully, it will be the language standard you actually need in order to perform under circumstances pertaining to your professional or personal zone.

What matters, after all, is the ability to perform social functions by means of a language. Can you use it at work, at home, with your friends or acquaintances in support of your purpose? Can you make things happen for yourself or for those around you when you speak? Can you change the world with your words? Even if just a little?
I truly hope that speaking a foreign language is rewarding for you. Whether you go through basic need situations such as ordering meals, obtaining lodging and transportation or shopping, or through situations involving job procedures and professional topics you should feel good about yourselves and thankful for your knowledge and for the abilities you have constantly practiced.

Come to our workshop on the 19th of July and see how fit you are to adapt to different situations while speaking in English. You can find the details in the Agenda on our site www.cartilevirginiei.ro.
